Open source products like any other software has limitations, however it is a boon for those how are starting out on their own. Languages like PHP not only help in faster development but also reduces the cost by a huge margin. It sure has limitations but the benefits outnumber the limitations by a huge huge margin…

Every software has its own limitations though (they always out-number benefits, as you have rightly said).

Drupal has been working to make it a complete CMS with a very limited drawbacks that can be neglected.
