You are NOT entitled to team engagement and loyalty. You will have to invest in it and earn it. And it is getting complex everyday.
We are seeing multiple generations in the workforce. Most of them have different values and aspirations. Bringing them together to aim for one big goal is definitely challenging. There is no silver bullet to getting team commitment. Few things that might work for you:

- Clarity of role, and how ones work contribute to the larger goal and purpose of the organisation. Everybody wants to be making a difference.
- Growth in the organisation. Progress excites everyone.
- A learning and facilitating workplace that let people grow.
- Challenge to stretch them just in the right proportion. A tricky one!
- Autonomy of place, work, method and team (read Drive by Daniel Pink)

- A feeling of belongingness. How the organisation and teammates care for each other.
- Pride in being associated with the organisation.
- Clear and regular communication about the organisation, industry and everything in between.
